Annual Giving

Abbotsleigh Girls

Make your 2023 gift now

This once a year appeal allows every member of the School community to join with others to make a collective impact on girls’ education. Philanthropy has played a critical role in Abbotsleigh’s evolution and growth and our donors have been selfless over the School’s history.  Please help us achieve full participation in giving each year so that, no matter the size of gift, we can together make a real difference.

Monthly giving

Abbotsleigh Girls

Make regular small gifts

Every family is encouraged to commit to our voluntary donation program for the duration of their daughter’s enrolment. Most families donate an amount monthly, ten times per year, via direct debit and receive a tax receipt at the end of the financial year. The collective impact of every family joining in regular giving is a reliable and sustaining annual income that provide opportunities for our girls now and for years to come.

Alumni may also consider making small regular donations.

Prize endowment

Speech Day

Endow a prize

Each year many generous members of our school community encourage excellence by endowing a Speech Day prize. Donors endow prizes for many reasons: celebrating achievement and inspiring students; acknowledging their daughter's or grandaughter's experiences at Abbotsleigh; being passionate about an area of study; or simply taking the opportunity to give back to Abbotsleigh. A gift of $1,000 to the Abbotsleigh Foundation endows a prize for five years. A gift of $5,000 to the Foundation will endow a prize in perpetuity with the option to name the prize. Please note that prize endowment gifts are not tax deductible. For more information about prize endowment, please contact the Director of Development.

Giving from the USA

Abbotsleigh Reception Building

Make tax deductible gifts in the USA

If you are a United States taxpayer, the most tax effective way for you to make a gift to Abbotsleigh is via the AISUSA Foundation. Abbotsleigh is an affiliate of the Australian Independent Schools USA Foundation, which was established to advance philanthropy in the United States from alumni and friends of Australian independent schools and universities. You will be able to choose Abbotsleigh as the school to which you are donating and choose the Scholarship, Building or Library fund for your tax deductible gift. Canadians may also be able to offset US based income. The link below will take you to the AISUSA Foundation website to make your gift. For more information about making gifts from the USA, please contact the Director of Development.

Abbotsleigh camellias

Camellia-WEB.jpg

Buy an Abbotsleigh camellia

The Marian Clarke Society sells the Abbotsleigh camellia to generate funds for the Camellia Award, which assists the Headmistress in providing financial support to students to further pursue an area in which they already excel. Cultivated from the Camellia Japonica, the Abbotsleigh camellia has a large, white flower with a double layer of petals. It is a medium to large, evergreen shrub with attractive, glossy, dark green, thick foliage, a medium, pure white, informal double flower, and a small group of yellow tipped white stamens tucked away in the centre.  More Abbotsleigh camellias are currently being propagated so orders cannot be taken at the moment.  Please check this page again after January 2018 for updates on how to buy the camellia.

Commemorative pavers

Pavers

Commemorate your link with Abbotsleigh

To celebrate Abbotsleigh’s long years of educating Australian women, in 2005 Abbotsleigh launched a program of commemorative pavers to permanently record the links that Old Girls, past parents and former staff have with the School. Alumni may also consider making small regular donations.  We invite you to commemorate your connection with Abbotsleigh’s distinguished heritage by ordering a brick engraved with your name and the years you attended the School. A tax deductible gift of $500 will support the School’s ongoing development and record your personal link with Abbotsleigh. For more information, please contact the Fundraising Manager.

Gift matching

Abbotsleigh Girls

Companies match your gift

Many Australian companies offer a matching gifts program, where any donation made to an Australian based registered charity is matched by the employer. The Abbotsleigh Foundation is an eligible registered charity and we encourage donors to ask their employer about registering their gifts via this program. Matching gifts are a simple and easy way to double the impact. For more information about how gift matching works, please contact the Fundraising Manager.
