Year 7 Orientation 2019
We welcomed our newest girls to the Middle School this week. We have been impressed with their kindness and enthusiasm as they have tackled many challenges during their start to the year. It has been very hot and humid outside, yet the Year 7 girls have shown remarkable resilience and good humour when moving between activities. They are amazing girls who appear ready to get the most of their Abbotsleigh education.
Our Year 11 Peer Support leaders did an outstanding job running sessions with our Year 7 girls on Tuesday. There has been an enormous amount of positive feedback about the care and maturity that our Year 11 leaders have already demonstrated. I would like to express my appreciation of their wonderful efforts, as well as to thank Ms Laing-Peach and Mrs Collins for their coordination of an impressive start to the Peer Support program.
As part of their two-day orientation program, our Year 7 girls spent time with their tutor and were involved in activities such as a scavenger hunt as one of the Peer Support activities, a talk by Mrs Cannon about wellbeing, IT induction sessions, sport trials, music auditions, swimming trials, in addition to time learning about our wonderful library.
The Year 7 girls have been encouraged to think of themselves as explorers on a journey of discovery this year, looking forward to exciting discoveries, and showing adaptability and kindness when faced with challenges. We have already noticed the good manners of this Year 7 cohort and their support for each other in various ways.
Ms Butler, the Year 7 tutors, the Year 7 subject teachers and I are very much looking forward to working with this lovely group of girls. It should be a great year.
