Year 11 Young Curators

This year Year 11 Visual Arts students have a great opportunity to gain first-hand experience as an exhibition curator.

Mr Max Germanos, who has established a program working with artists and schools, is facilitating this for us. Currently he is working with Trinity and artist Euan Macleod, and you can read more about this here.

The artist, whose works we will curate in an exhibition, is Vanessa Stockard, an Abbotsleigh Old Girl (1993) and 2017 and 2018 Archibald Prize finalist.

The Young Curators Project involves several visits to meet Max Germanos, view Vanessa's exhibition at Clayton Utz, view her other exhibitions this year and visit her studio in Bowral to select works for the exhibition. Once girls are familiar with the artist they will select the title of the exhibition, the works for exhibition, prepare an invitation, select images for advertising, and write text for a press celease and catalogue.

Nine girls have nominated to participate in the Young Curators team, although the whole Year 11 VA group will be kept up to date with the project events and can contribute ideas and assist in the running of the exhibition.
