Recognition for Abbotsleigh Music Department

Amy Wang in Year 10 and Sorina Zamfir (piano teacher). Amy was one of the AMEB candidates of 2016.

Each year at Abbotsleigh, around 200 girls from Infants all the way through to Year 12 will sit for Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) exams on their chosen instrument. These exams happen twice a year in May and November, are run by an external organisation and take place in the Music Department in the Senior School. Exams consist of technical exercises, pieces, sight reading and aural exercise.

In 2016, Abbotsleigh girls achieved wonderful results placing Abbotsleigh in the top five most outstanding accredited schools in New South Wales.

AMEB wrote, “We recognise and congratulate teachers, studios and schools that achieved the top results in each category. As you are among this elite group of talented educators, we would like to recognise your teaching efforts in 2016 with this Certificate of Distinction.’

Well done to all the girls for their hard work and to the wonderful staff that supported them.
