On the Cusp of Change at TEDxYouth@Sydney

Twelve students in Year 10 had the wonderful opportunity this week to attend TEDxYouth@Sydney at the Seymour Centre. Our tickets were generously provided by the event's major sponsor, The University of Sydney.

It was an inspiring day featuring 11 talks and five performances from amazing young Australians, all centred on the theme of 'We are on the CUSP of change'.

Speaker highlights:

Connor McLeod, who has been blind from birth and successfully campaigned for the printing of tactile banknotes.

Moreblessing Maturure, African Australian artist and actor whose passion is to create theatre that accurately portrays diverse cultural voices and experiences.

HY William Chan, a young designer helping to create sustainable urban environments through 3D printing from upcycled plastic waste in refugee camps outside Athens.

The 12 Abbotsleigh students who attended will now form the core of an organising committee for our next TEDxYouth@Abbotsleigh in 2020. Exciting times ahead!
