Language celebrations at Junior School

On Wednesday 1 November 2017 the  Infant girls could be heard laughing loudly as they watched some entertaining skits in the French Shadow Theatre performance. Richard Bradshaw also demonstrated shadow puppets from different countries and showed the girls how to manipulate them. Feedback from the girls included the words marvellous, surprising, funny and scary.

On Thursday students from Years 3 and 4 enjoyed learning some new cooking skills, using French vocabulary: how to mix ingredients, pour batter, lift the pan, swirl and flip their crêpes. There were cries of 'Oui, chef!' as they followed the instructions carefully. The finished products were impressive and very professional; they disappeared very quickly. Teachers assisting also pronounced the pancakes delicious.

Students in Year 5 enjoyed a morning of Chinese cultural activities, creating scrumptious dumplings and adorable rice and seaweed pandas.

The calligraphy session provided a calming contrast to the colourful dragon dance. A Chinese storytelling event rounded out the activities.
