Junior School China Study Tour 2018

Over the holidays a group of students and parents from Years 5 and 6 had the exciting opportunity to go to China. It was a jammed packed ten days of immersion in culture and history, sightseeing and of course attending our Sister School Yu Cai, in Beijing. The most significant part of this biennial study tour is the connection with Yu Cai. One of the stand out memorable moments for the girls was billeting, where they stayed with a local Chinese family. This authentic experience allowed them to expand their Mandarin skills, understand the culture and what life is like in China.

Other big ticket items were of course walking on The Great Wall of China, visiting the Forbidden City, coming face to face with the infamous Terracotta Warriors, taking a bicycle ride on the oldest intact city wall, visiting pandas and to end, an exciting trip to Disneyland. Amongst all the incredible experiences and opportunities, the group, including the parents, enjoyed practising their Mandarin in the local markets, in the quest for the best bargains.

The girls showed great confidence, courage and resilience through the entire trip, and all with brilliant smiles on their faces – truly wonderful.
