Japanese cultural exchange with Abbotsleigh

By Masumi Sorrell | Senior School Languages Teacher.
Abbotsleigh is currently hosting an enthusiastic group of Japanese visitors from November 19 to 29. There are 24 Year 9 girls from Seien Girls’ High School from Hamamatsu, in Japan. This is their 4th visit since 2012.
When the Seien girls are with us, they stay with local Australian host families. At school, they mainly have English lessons from Period 1 to SPC time. These English lessons are given by the English teachers organised by the agency which organises their visit with us. They enjoy having recess, lunch and Period 4 lessosn with their Year 9 day buddies.
The girls will be taking part in three off-site excursions while they are here, before leaving to return to Japan on November 29.
Thank you for visiting and sharing your culture with us, girls!
