Instrumental Festival hits all the right notes
Various Senior School venues were alive with strings, brass and woodwind on the evening of Wednesday 13 June for the Instrumental Festival. From usual performances venues like the Peter Duly Concert Hall, to more intimate and unexpected spaces, like the Grace Cossington Smith Gallery, the winter blues were chased away by strains of Handel, Dvorak, Gershwin, Mancini and so many more.
More than 140 of our senior Music students who currently learn an instrument at Abbotsleigh took the opportunity to perform in front of parents and fellow students. Under the expert guidance of their Music Tutors, the students showcased their wonderful music ability and talent, while fine-tuning their performance skills.
‘Abbotsleigh gives us opportunities to perform and this is very important in helping with my confidence and music development,’ said performer Charlotte Pearson, Year 10.
Audience members were fuelled against the winter chill by a delicious sausage sizzle and additionally treated to performances by the Middle School Brass Ensemble, Saxophone Ensemble and Clarinet Ensemble as they moved from one space to the next.
The next Instrumental Festival will also take place on Wednesday 17 October in Term 4, where our senior girls will be joined on stage by their Junior School counterparts.
