Happy Mothers' Day from the ELC
‘Belonging is central to ‘being and becoming’ in that it shapes who children are and who they can become.’ With this in mind, the ELC values the close connection between young children and their families.
This week we celebrated our ELC mothers by providing the opportunity to share breakfast with their ELC child. Our chefs prepared chia puddings with a berry coulis as well as offering an assortment of pastries and seasonal fresh fruits. These breakfasts provide an opportunity for our busy mums to sit down and meet up with other mums within their child’s group as well as renew friendships over the delicious offerings.
Collaborating with families is an important aspect of celebrating significant days throughout the year as it provides the opportunity for the educators to share the ELC families’ values and perspectives, which deepen the children’s experiences. ‘Inclusion involves taking into account all children’s social, cultural and linguistic diversity … the intent is to ensure that all children’s experiences are recognised and valued’ (EYLF, 2009, p24).
We hope that all our ELC mums have many joys and happy moments to cherish and celebrate on this Mothers’ Day and beyond.
