Farewell to our beloved Head of Boarding

At the end of Term 1, the boarders farewelled Mrs Wiley with a lovely evening, filled with many laughs and a few of tears. The evening featured a video, speeches, and many gifts including a homemade travel book containing travel tips from the boarders' home towns. We shared many fond memories of Mrs Wiley's 19 years at Abbotsleigh and reflected upon the far-reaching impact she has had on the girls.

We will truly miss her fine judgement when it comes to Easter hats, her top class Santa impersonations and her ability to always be such a great sport. We admire her phenomenal organisation, her ability to listen, and her strong guiding words. But most importantly her wisdom and advocacy when it comes to all things boarding. As a woman who has functioned as our mother figure and as someone who we respect and admire so much, Mrs Wiley has had a great impact on the boarding school.

The evening concluded with the girls singing We Still Call Boarding Home a twist on Peter Allen's We Still Call Australia Home. To quote from the song, 'You'll go to small towns that never close down/ From Mudgee to Hong Kong and Old Goulburn Town/ But no matter how far or how wide you'll roam/ You'll still call boarding home'.

With the many exciting adventures coming her way, there will always be something of Mrs Wiley amongst the boarders. Best of luck, Mrs Wiley!
