Easter Show Success for the AgClub

By Susan Filan | Head of Environmental Education
Abbotsleigh's Junior School Environment Club and Senior School Agriculture Club had an unprecedented winning streak at the 2019 Sydney Royal Easter Show. Both groups entered the School Produce vertical garden competition. Senior School Agriculture Club also entered the normal garden, purebred layers, Steggles meat pairs and School Poultry Showmanship competitions.
The girls learned how to care for gardens and chickens, as well as preparing projects relating their work at school to different types of Australian agriculture. Nine students gave up the first Sunday of their holidays to compete in poultry showmanship. Some had never handled a chicken before joining Agriculture Club this year. They showed courage in entering competitions with no prior experience. The results were amazing.
