Awesome cross country results in Paris
We are proud to announce the results of our six senior athletes who competed on Wednesday night (Sydney time) in Paris at the ISF World Schools Cross Country Championships.
The team, Hannah Cerezo (Year 9), Rosie Fordham (Year 10), Olivia Hogg (Year 11), Annie Magnussen (Year 9), Sarah McDermott (Year 12) and Abbey Rockliff (Year 11) arrived a week earlier in London where they spent their days sightseeing – and even managed to fit in a little training.
They arrived to warmer weather in Paris on Monday, where they walked the course and met athletes from all over world at the Opening Ceremony.
The whole event runs over three days and comprises 500 competitors from 35 countries, five continents; all aided by 2,000 support staff.
And now the results.
Our girls came second to Morocco, out of 23 countries in their event.
Out of the 145 runners, Abbey took out the race in 1st in 13:54, Sarah 4th in 14:04, Hannah 11th in 14:30, Rosie 12th in 14:35, Olivia 26th in 15:31 and Annie 47th in 15:58.
A big thank you to the parents who have supported their daughters to be part of this amazing opportunity, to Mrs Julie Taylor for travelling with our team and making their experience fun and eventful, and finally to our Head Coach James 'Jimbo' FitzGerald for his enthusiasm, passion and the preparation involved to have our girls well prepared to race at the highest level for school athletes.
Second in the world – that’s pretty amazing!
