Abbotsleigh welcomes Ohtani

Over the past week, Abbotsleigh has hosted 16 girls from our Japanese sister school Ohtani. 2018 marks the 20th year that Ohtani girls have been coming to us, although the relationship between the two schools started in the mid-1990s.

While the Ohtani girls were here, they had two special lessons in D & T and Drama, plus English lessons. They performed a wonderful dance which they choreographed themselves at assembly, which was received with great enthusiasm by the Abbotsleigh girls. You can watch this dance in the video below. The also enjoyed a sausage sizzle on Monday and went to Featherdale Wildlife Park for a picnic on Tuesday.

While here, they have also visited their other sister school, McKillop College in Bathurst, and enjoyed visiting the Blue Mountains.

We thank the 16 host families who took the Ohtani girls into their homes and looked after them so well. This was an immersive cultural experience that these girls will remember and treasure for the rest of their lives.
