Abbotsleigh hockey takes on UK’s Sedbergh School in friendly matches.

On Thursday afternoon Abbotsleigh played host to a contingent of staff and students from Sedbergh School, located approximately 130 km north of Manchester, England. Sedbergh is ranked in the Top 10 schools for hockey in the UK, so our girls definitely had a challenge ahead of them. Earlier in the week the Sedbergh girls had competed against Pymble Ladies’ College, PLC Sydney and Wenona – and are heading to Cairns to round out their three-week trip to Australia.

After two strongly fought matches, our Junior Team came out 0-1, with the Senior Team 0-3. The Abbotsleigh juniors are looking extremely strong this year, especially after winning the Mollie Dive Junior Competition in Term 2, and then winning 8-0 on the weekend against PLC Armidale. The Abbotsleigh firsts are also looking to have another strong season, starting their season on the weekend with a 3-2 win over Loreto Normanhurst.

We hope that the Sedbergh crew enjoy their remaining time in Australia, and we loved having you here at Abbotsleigh.
