Well done to our Abbotsleigh gymnasts that recently secured top results at the NSW AeroSchool’s Gymnastics State Championships held in late July. The event attracted more than 300 athletes from 20 clubs and schools, competing across two days of competition for the title of State Champion.

Our girls Lucy Phelps, Emily Phelps, Elizabeth Xerri and Jessica Woodgate came first for the Level 3 Intermediate Group.

Aerobic Gymnastics combines gymnastics skills with dance in a fast-paced and energetic gym sport. The gymnasts perform to music in high intensive, continuous movements, utilising strength, flexibility and agility.

‘Leading up to State, we were all very nervous,’ said Lucy Phelps. ‘However, on the day the excitement and the amazing atmosphere lead to great performances by all and a very successful day for Abbotsleigh Our team was very surprised to come away with first place but we were really proud of the routine we performed, said Lucy.
