Head of the Hill for the sixth year running
On a cold but sunny morning at Balmoral Beach, 20 Abbotsleigh runners made their way to Hunter Park to warm up for a 420m uphill race.
A tough race it may be, but the cause is worth all the effort – raising money for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation to help provide equipment for children in hospitals across Australia. This was the sixth year Abbotsleigh has entered teams into the girls Head of The Hill event. We have come away with six victories and broken the record three times.
Smashing the previous record by 13 seconds in a time of 7min 39sec was a great effort from Sarah McDermott, Sarah Reece, Rosie Fordham and Hannah Cerezo who raced as our Team 1, in that order, to be the first team to have all four runners at the top of Awaba Street, Mosman.
Abbotsleigh Team 1, winners of the girls' race. L-R: Sarah McDermott, Hannah Cerezo, Rosie Fordham and Sarah Reece.
Abbotsleigh will continue to support the event and we look forward to raising money and awareness for the foundation in 2018.
As you can see below, all five of our teams put in an amazing effort to all place in the top ten. There were 114 female teams in total.
