Explanatory memorandum (click here) 2009 Proposed Constitution (click here) The Abbotsleigh Old Girls’ Office In 1991 Abbotsleigh’s eighth Headmistress Mrs Diane Nicholls agreed to set up an Old Girls’ Office on school premises with a part time Office Manager. The Office continues to handle all matters relating to Old Girls – tracking down former classmates, year and area reunions and maintaining networks worldwide. The Office Manager also handles a multitude of queries from outside agencies concerning distinguished Old Girls and their careers. The Abbotsleigh Old Girls’ Union Abbotsleigh’s first Headmistress Miss Marian Clarke founded the Abbotsleigh Old Girls’ Union in 1908 when the number of students who had finished their education was becoming more substantial. The Union has as its objects:
As well as providing regular information to its members and keeping its records up to date, the AOGU has long been aware of the need to preserve past and present records for future generations. Photos and other memorabilia are welcome additions to the already extensive collection. The Old Girls’ Office administers the financial and regulatory management of the Abbotsleigh Old Girls’ Union. An Executive Committee, comprising the President, Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer and other members, meets monthly. Three elected Union representatives also sit on the Council of Abbotsleigh, thereby maintaining a strong connection with the School’s governance procedures. The Headmistress of Abbotsleigh is Patron of the AOGU, as has been so since Miss Clarke’s day. |
