Mrs Judith Poole (2005 - )

Mrs Judith Poole, BA (Hons) MEd, is Abbotsleigh’s 10th Headmistress since 1885. Mrs Poole took up her duties in January 2005 following the retirement of Mrs Judith Wheeldon, Headmistress since 1996.

United States born, Mrs Poole completed her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Physics and Mathematics then worked for the Peace Corps for six years in Botswana.

Mrs Poole’s career in Australian girls’ education began at Meriden, initially as a Mathematics teacher, then as Head of Department for Computing Sciences and finally as Assistant to the Deputy Principal and Director of Information Technology. 

Mrs Poole is also the author of a Computing Studies textbook.

Before joining the Abbotsleigh staff Mrs Poole was Alpha Business Systems Manager for NSW. She was nominated for the Telstra Business Woman of the Year Award in 2002.

An active sportswoman, Mrs Poole coaches a school softball team and herself plays softball in local competition. Until recently she was also a Ranger Guide Leader. She is actively involved in her local Anglican Church.
