Diving
Learn to springboard dive on 1 m and 3 m boards in a fun and safe environment. Programs cater for boys and girls in Kinda Dive (5–8 yrs), beginners to elite (8 yrs+) and adults. The competition program is flexible to deliver personal goal oriented outcomes for the individual athlete. The dry land program uses mats and harness to teach aerial awareness.

Swimming

Learn to Swim and Elementary Stroke Correction
Five levels of graded ability

Water Confidence
30 minute class/max four students per class
Introduction to water confidence and safety.

Gold Fish
30 minute class/max four students per class
Development of floats, torpedoes, straight leg kicking practice, freestyle and backstroke arms.

Aqua Ducks
30 minute class/max five students per class
The main goal is to learn the breathing process for freestyle.

Sea Turtles
30 minute class/max six students per class
Sea Turtles will be able to swim continuously for 12.5 m demonstrating correct technique in freestyle breathing and backstroke.

Swordfish
30 minute class/max seven students per class
Swordfish will be able to swim 50 m in freestyle and backstroke.

Competitive stream – four levels

Swimmers in these squads must join Abbotsleigh Swimming Club and commit to a minimum number of sessions per week.

Mini Marlins
45 minute class/target age: 6–8 years/limited places
Mini Marlins allows swimming in a squad format over 25 m at an early age. Drills in all four strokes are taught to improve technique and endurance swimming is introduced.

Bronze
60 minute class/target age: 7–9 years/limited places
Bronze squad refines technique in all four strokes, develops competitive skills such as starts, turns and finishes and underwater strokes. Squad training disciplines, use of pace clock, programs and training activities are encouraged.

Silver
1½–2 hour class/target age: 9–13 years/limited places
Swimmers aspiring to a higher level of participation in competitive swimming will be encouraged to join this squad.

Gold
1½–2 hour class/target age: 13+ years
Advanced training techniques for swimmers involved in school (IGSSA), State and National level competitions.

Selection into silver and gold squads is at the head coach’s discretion. Consideration is given to how many sessions are undertaken per week, competitive experience and success.

Swimmers in Gold Squad are educated in all areas of swimming i.e. nutrition, race preparation/psychology, dry land activities, strength, flexibility, goal setting and reaching one’s full potential.

Start, turns and finishes
45 minute class/limited places
This squad is for swimmers in Sharks, Dolphins, Mini Marlins and Bronze squads.

Sharks
45 minute class/limited places
Sharks need to be proficient in all four strokes over 25 m.

Dolphins
60 minute class/limited places
Dolphins refine technique in all strokes including underwater strokes.

IGSSA Squad
60 minute class/limited places
This squad improves competitive strength for Senior School swimming in Years 7–12. It is for girls who can swim 50 m freestyle in 35 seconds or faster, or a time of similar strength in the form strokes.

Swim Fit Squad
60 minute class
A training squad for recreational swimmers with the desire for improved fitness.
