Professional musicians to take to the stage
A range of outstanding musicians will be on show at Abbotsleigh’s staff on stage concert, titled Concerto, on Friday 13 May 2011 from 7.30 pm.

The concert will feature some of the School’s highly talented peripatetic staff, including one of Australia’s most distinguished pianists, Clemens Leske, who has played with the London Philharmonic Orchestra as well as the Sydney Symphony Orchestra under conductor Vladimir Ashkenhazy.

Another highlight will be Rosemary Blake playing some of Bach’s work on the School’s West-Pemmer Pipe Organ.

Two staff members, Joshua Tsai and Sorina Zamfir, will play concertos with the Abbotsleigh Symphony Orchestra, which will be a wonderful opportunity to see staff and students playing together.

Peter Walmsley, who has been an active performer, conductor and teacher for more than 50 years, will play Prelude to Te Deum by Charpentier. Peter was a member of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra for many years and won the ABC Concerto competition.

Other groups to perform on the night include a Brass Quartet and Jazz Trio, and the evening will also feature several vocal works and classical guitar pieces.

Tickets cost $20 for adults and $5 for concession and are available at the door. Alternatively, phone 9473 7781 or email morgane@abbotsleigh.nsw.edu.au. The concert will begin at 7.30 pm in the School Chapel and then proceed to the Peter Duly Concert Hall.
