Abbotsleigh is an independent Anglican school that aims to support students in a caring Christian environment. The girls attend Christian studies lessons from Kindergarten to Year 12 to learn about the Christian faith so that they can make their own decision about their personal faith.
The girls take many opportunities to ask questions so that they may develop an accurate understanding of the Christian faith and to see how it influences the wider world as well as them personally. The girls are prepared for global political issues and are introduced to religious diversity by studying world religions in Year 11.
Attending Chapel services once a week is an important time for girls to take time out from the busyness of school and reflect on the spiritual side of life. It is an opportunity for the whole school to meet as a larger group and share in fellowship and prayer.
Each week girls from all ages are able to attend groups to learn more about their Christian faith and have fun and fellowship together. The K-2 group is called ‘FISH’ (Fellowship in School Hours) and the 3-6 and 7-12 groups are called ‘Crusaders’ or ‘Cru’. The girls sing, pray and hear a short talk often given by guest speakers from various organisations.
